WLHL'N MLKAn MLKA ZY KLPKL ('Wahram, King of Kings, the Benefactor' in Pahlawi) Draped bust of Bahram V to right, wearing elaborate crown with frontal crescent and korymbos set on crescent. Rev. WLHL'N ('Wahram' in Pahlawi) Fire altar with head of Bahram V on shaft flanked by two attendants; in field to right, ART (name of the mint in Pahlawi). Cf. SNS III, pl. 59, A2 (for type with differing fire altar). An apparently unpublished variety from a very rare mint. Slightly rough and with light scratches, otherwise, extremely fine.
